AC Milan close Filippo Terracciano signing
AC Milan are close to completing an agreement for the signing of Italian midfielder Filippo Terracciano from Hellas Verona.
The January transfer window has kicked off with AC Milan making strategic moves to bolster their squad. The first notable arrival for the Rossoneri was Matteo Gabbia, who returned from his loan at Villarreal to address the pressing issues in the center-back position caused by a string of injuries. Now, the spotlight is on the potential signing of Serbian talent Matija Popovic, despite facing stiff competition from Manchester City. Concurrently, AC Milan is actively pursuing the acquisition of Filippo Terracciano, a 20-year-old right midfielder.
The Rossoneri have already agreed personal terms with the 20-year-old right midfielder. Filippo Terracciano has accepted AC Milan’s offer of a four-and-a-half year contract at 800 thousand euros per season. This deal saw off competition from other Serie A clubs such as Atalanta, Bologna, and Fiorentina, as Terracciano, upon learning of AC Milan’s interest, promptly halted discussions with other teams, signaling a clear preference for the Rossoneri.
The young Italian’s commitment to AC Milan was met with appreciation from the club’s management, Moncada and Furlani. The negotiations, however, are not without their challenges, as AC Milan is currently in talks with Hellas Verona to finalize the transfer. Verona has set a fee of €7 million for their emerging talent, while AC Milan is aiming to secure the deal for approximately €5 million. Beyond the immediate strengthening of the squad, Terracciano’s acquisition will also aid AC Milan in meeting UEFA’s requirements for Italian and homegrown players.
Filippo Terracciano’s versatility on the pitch is a key factor that makes him an attractive prospect for AC Milan. Although primarily a right midfielder, he has demonstrated his adaptability by frequently filling in as a right-back and center-back. Having made his breakthrough last season, Terracciano has become a regular starter for Hellas Verona. In the current Serie A campaign, he has made 18 appearances for Verona, showcasing his abilities in various positions. Furthermore, Terracciano is a valuable asset to the Italy Under-21 national team.
His agent Andrea D’Amico was quick to highlight why Milan would be making a great signing with Terracciano. “With Filippo Terracciano you don’t take one player, but you take 3/4 of them because he plays low on the left, low on the right, with Juventus he even marked Dusan Vlahovic. He plays in midfield and, in the national team, also as an attacking winger“, said Terracciano’s agent Andrea D’Amico.
In addition to the Terracciano deal, AC Milan appears to be undergoing a shift in transfer strategy. The focus has shifted away from signing a new center forward in January, as Luka Jovic has found his rhythm, contributing five goals with an impressive average of one goal every 116 minutes. The new emphasis is on securing another center-back, addressing the defensive concerns, while the potential departure of Rade Krunic could pave the way for the arrival of another midfielder.
